Disco Kids clinches first Brazilian copro

Discovery Kids has concluded a deal with one of Brazil’s largest animation companies to coproduce a new series that highlights environmental issues.

Fishtronaut (52×11′) will mark the first copro deal in Brazil for Discovery Kids’ Latin American division. Animation company TV PinGuim created and developed the series, which is expected to air on the network, which reaches more than 17 million households throughout Latin America, in 2008.

Production on the 2D-animated series will also involve the support of Canadian animation company Vivavision.

The story is based on the adventures of a secret agent fish named Fishtronaut and his best friends, a girl called Marina and a young monkey named Zeek.

Working for the Secret Environmental Agency, Fishtronaut has a special suit that enables him to travel between wet and dry worlds, finding ways to protect the environment. Themes of environmental sustainability will be explored throughout the series.
